Finished Projects

I know I this will be the 2nd post of the day but I had to show you what I just finished working on. I also took pics of a few that I have finished in the last little bit. I have to get them to the frame shop now. I couldn't get the fabric to show up very well but the bunny is on a pale green and the santa is on a golden yellow. I do wish that you could see the Santa's colors, they are gorgeous. His beard is done with thread and a white whispery fuzzy thread. I can't describe it any better than that. He is beautiful. The bunny is not framed but I wanted to see what a dark frame would look like with him. He is a little late for Easter but I was working as fast as I could.

I think I have finally gotten everything the way I want it in my living room except this area over the wicker love seat. Right now I have an iron cross hanging there but it just looks too small for the area. I need your help, what can I use there? It feels like everything in the room is square and that I may need something else. Please leave comments and suggestions, this is the last detail I need to fix in this room. The last pic is of another wall in the same room. I have all these old family pics and wanted to be able to display some of them. I know I have a few empty frames up there but I had to add them to get the rest lined up right. I need glass cut for the two empty ones but I just had to show you the cabinet. This was a find at a local antique store, it smelled like turpentine when we got it home(yuck!!) but it was a good deal and fits perfect in our home.

Babies

My friend Pam is pregnant for the first time, with twins, ha! and thank God it is not me. She was admitted to the hospital 2 weeks ago with premature labor and they are now telling her she may have to stay another 6 weeks even tho' they have her on meds to halt the contractions. Poor thing, I was in the hospital for 18 days before I had Griffin and....well you can just imagine no bathroom privileges (no washing hair, shaving legs, going to the potty with some privacy). I am sure I was the loveliest mother on the day he was born, ugh!!! Pam is still able to go the bathroom but I still feel for her, I told her to shave them legs every chance she gets cause there's no telling when they will force her to stay in the bed. We had a shower for her today and just had everyone give her some words of wisdom(is there any of that once you have children?) and taped the whole thing for her to see. I hated to cancel when we had invited so many. We got our invitations and paper supplies here; the one we used can be seen here. It was the cutest shower I have ever done. I wish Pam and Jerry all of the best! The picture above is what she has to look forward to, after getting himself all situated he then says"Feliz Navidad". Go figure.

After I got home I found a new blog that everyone has to go check out, Risa is so funny(I think I am meant to win her giveaway), so go visit and say "Hey". Y'all know that is the way we say Hi in the south and we love our Sweet Tea!

Still in Shock!

Last night I watched 48 hours and listened to the story of Va. Tech from the people directly affected by this nightmare. I couldn't help but to cry and then ask
"God why does this have to happen?" I don't know the answer to that but I do know that God grieves with us, he is with us every step of the way. Good times, bad times, all of the time; many forget that. If you are a believer then every thing you do from that point on Jesus is with you and while I know sometimes it seems we are all alone in our suffering, he is there to pull us thru. I pray that the friends and families of the teachers and students at Va. Tech will feel our prayers surrounding them and that they will believe that Jesus is always there for them. I was listening to a song and wanted to post the lyrics here:

Kutless - Strong TowerFrom the album Strong Tower
When I wonder through the desertAnd I’m longing for my homeAll my dreams have gone astrayWhen I’m stranded in the valleyAnd I’m tired and all aloneIt seems like I’ve lost my wayChorus:I go running to Your mountainWhere Your mercy sets me freeYou are my strong tower, shelter over meBeautiful and mighty everlasting KingYou are my strong tower, fortress when I’m weakYour name is true and holyAnd Your face is all I seeIn the middle of all my darknessIn the midst of all my fearYou’re my refuge and my hopeWhen the storm of life is ragingAnd the thunders all I hearYou speak softly to my soulChorus:Now I’m running to Your mountainWhere Your mercy sets me freeYou are my strong tower, shelter over meBeautiful and mighty everlasting KingYou are my strong tower, fortress when I’m weakYour name is true and holyAnd Your face is all I seeAnd Your face is all I seeYeah, Your face is all I seeChorus: (2x’s)

I mentioned on the description of the packets that I have a lot of packets left to put together so if you are interested in a certain color scheme, please email me or leave a comment and I will create some custom packets. I am so excited and hope that you will be as well. These packets can be used for scrapping, collage or doll house decorating!!

Little Red Dresser

Kim over at Daisy Cottage always finds the best things at her local Goodwill so I usually go racing to our largest one as soon as she posts her pics. Of course ours never has the type of things she finds but one day I lucked up and found this little chest. Another girl was looking at it and when I asked she said she was going to get it if her friend that was on the way could fix the drawer(the bottlom rung had broke so the middle drawer had fallen). Her 20 something year old friend showed up and said "no, he could not fix it". YEA, for me! I just happen to be married to McGyver and snatched that bad boy up. It was unfinished wood and being truly inspired by Kim I painted it RED, had McGyver fix it (he also added old door knobs) and we added it to the front porch. Now, I just need to get a nice chair to sit beside it. The one that is there is a great chippy piece from my Great grandmother but I think it is lead paint and therefore no one is allowed to touch it. If anyone has an idea abt. the type of chair, wicker?, please throw it my way.

Thanks to all

I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Easter. My kids got to go to 4 egg hunts total so we now have candy to pass out at Halloween! Best of all at our church egg hunt on Sat. they got to hear the real celebration at Easter, that Jesus Christ rose again!! We watched a video in church on Sunday that shows what Christ went thru and says, "It was Friday, but Sunday's comin!" is just sends chills all over every time I see or hear that phrase.

I want to thank everyone that responded to my Potluck Recipe and sent their condolences abt. my Aunt Eva. The funeral yesterday was very simple and sweet and Bridges Funeral Home did a beautiful job. She had not been that pretty for some time due to being so fragile and weak. They dressed her in a gorgeous peach, lacy gown and she was so pretty. She wanted a closed casket, said, "I don't want people standing there staring at me!" but I wish everyone could've seen her. I posted a pic above of her holding her sister Lilly, her brother Terrell(he died from Polio), her sister Evie and my grandmother Cleo, on the far right with her arm thrown behind her head. This was in early 1927 since Lilly is still a small baby. My 91 year old Aunt Evie says they were dirt poor but didn't know it! I love old pics like this and am trying to collect all that I can before they are destroyed by unknowing hands.

Here are the stamps that I found a few days ago at a local flea market. I tried to upload the picture before but for whatever reason could not. The large one is a prayer list stamp from a church, while the others are numbers. I can't wait to use them in my scrapbooking and paper art! I got all of these for $4 plus the case that the numbers fit in. I could get the hang of this junkin deal!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter and as soon as I can I will post the wallpaper packets for all to see and hopefully buy.

Something I forgot!

Don't forget to go to www.shabbyinthecity.blogspot.com to see all of the recipes list on today's potluck.

Potluck Recipe for You

I am late getting this on here but yesterday I got a call from my grandmother's sister, my Aunt Lilly that the oldest of the sisters, my Aunt Eva, had had a massive stroke and was not expected to pull thru. I rushed to their house, abt. 45 min. away and was there when she died. She lived 94 years which I know is a rich full life, outliving her husband and only son. I could see in her eyes when she was seeing family long gone and not us anymore and I know that our Lord was there to greet her with open arms but it is so hard for us here mourning her.
I had bought all of the ingredients for this recipe yesterday to share with you and with my family but now it will go to the house for the family members coming to pay their respects. In Georgia, or at least in our part, everyone is family and all are welcome. I am sure that hundreds will pass thru and while it is a depressing note for this blog, I want to share the pic from the cookbook and the recipe. I will try to take a pic of what mine comes out like. I have made this numerous times at my Pampered Chef shows and it is always a big hit. Hope you all enjoy!!!

Peachy Cheese Coffee Cake

2 pkgs(8 oz. each) refrigerated crescent rolls

1 pkg. (8 oz) cream cheese,softened

1/4 c. powdered sugar

1 egg yolk

1/2 tsp vanilla

1 can (21 oz.) peach pie filling(you can also use cherry, blueberry or apple)

Glaze: 1/2 c. powdered sugar and 2-3 tsp. milk

Preheat oven to 350. Unroll crescent dough. Separate into 16 triangles, reserving 4. On a large round stone, arrange 12 triangles in a circle with wide ends toward outside edge of baking stone and pts toward the center. Using lightly floured roller, roll dough to a 14 inch circle, pressing seams together to seal. Leave a 3 inch circle open in center. Form a slightly raised rim along inner and outer edges of dough. In a bowl, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, egg yolk and vanilla and whisk until smooth. Spread evenly over dough. Spoon pie filling over cream cheese mix. Cut each remaining triangle lengthwise into 3 pieces. Arrange them evenly over pie filling creating spoke like top. Press ends together to seal. Bake 25-30 min or until golden brown. For glaze, combine milk and powdered sugar and drizzle over top of coffee cake.

Yield: 12 servings

$ .59
Great book(or at least the cover is pretty) and a pretty pic
Somehow I lost the picture of the stamps but I will post those later. I am off to hide things and figure out what to do with it all-project wise. The lace and buttons will be in the wallpaper packets of course, so as soon as I get those all together I will put them in my etsy shop.
Old Sheet Music (edges pretty bad shape but will be great for scapping)
Encyclopedia Brittanica's from 1921

Lots of buttons and lace(tho' this pic is not great, they are all pretty)

Junkin'

Old music book and Presbyterian Hymn Book

Well, I am still working on those wallpaper packets and yesterday I decided to go "junkin" just to see if I could find anything else to add to the packets. I read so many different blogs thru-out the day and see all of the neat finds but never have that kind of luck myself until yesterday! There is a flea market near-by (my sons say it is a junk market-my 7 year old says in his biggest wow voice, "this is sorta like Walmart!") HA!!! Anyway, I have several pics to show of the goods I found yesterday. I can't believe I got all of this for $39, I even forgot to take pics of some of the items but you will get an idea from what I have here. Of course, I have to keep my stash hidden for now (my husband will not understand the value), so I better go figure out a hiding place for my goodies.

Yea Gators!

The game has just ended and this Georgia girl actually pulled for the Florida Gators. Even my die hard Ga. Bulldog husband joined in...amazing!
Anyway, the entire time the game was on I was making wallpaper packets, I have been working on them for weeks and it seems like before I can get mine put together to sell I see that others beat me to it. I love seeing what everyone is doing with wallpaper; my husband can't believe that people use it for something other than walls and lining cabinet shelves. In the next couple of days I will have figured out how to list them and have pics for all to see.
This is my first post and I am kind of scared no one is even going to know I am out here in the blog world. I have really enjoyed reading and making purchases from others and thought I should get in on this as well. I better go try to figure out some of this blog tech business before I go to bed. Hope someone out there sees this!
